EYP the Netherlands organises four (4) Regional Selection Conferences each year. These are the start of the EYP-journey for Dutch participants. The fourth and last Regional Selection Conference of 2019-2020 will take place in Breda, during the weekend of 11 and 12 Januari.
The Regional Selection Conferences are two days long. All participants gather in their chosen working group called a committee, consisting of 6 to 8 people from various schools. On Saturday morning there will be Teambuilding activities through which participants get to know each other. In the afternoon, the delegates discuss a European issue in their group, coming up with possible solutions. Saturday evening includes a cultural program: Eurovillage, during which the delegations will eat traditional food and drinks from different European countries. The participants spend the night and the next day, on Sunday, reunite in a large debate. During this General Assembly, all groups present and discuss their motion for a resolution, which passes through a debate and a voting procedure.

This particular event will be led by two young project managers, Juliet Ligtenberg and Luuk van Dongen.
“In January 2020 we hope to build a creative, dynamic and fun sanctuary in Breda!
We envision Breda 2020 to be a session that takes care of the well-being, enjoyment, creativity and connection of participants. We also believe that the academic output of a session is an important part of youth empowerment and citizens’ dialogue. We are therefore hopeful to work together with local policy-makers to create a wider platform for participants’ ideas to be heard.
Through an extra day of CJO we aim to put emphasis on inter-team building and close-knit cooperation. At the centre of the two days of CJO we put connection and setting personal goals. So that each participant at Breda can enjoy a feeling of closeness to other participants as well as develop personally.
Breda 2020 is to be a safe space for all, regardless of experience, to develop their skills and enjoy their time. Breda will be a place to pass on what really matters about EYP: enjoyment.”
The logo for the event is the Spanjaardsgat. The Spanjaardsgat is a watergate close to the center of the city. Its build was commissioned by the eldest son of Willem van Oranje in the 17th century. Now, a yearly free music festival is held there, the Spanjaardsgatconcerten.
The Regional Selection Conferences are supervised by the Secretary of EYP the Netherlands, Tom Cobbenhagen. For questions concerning this event please consult our Secretary through firstname.lastname@example.org or consult the Head Organisers (email@example.com | firstname.lastname@example.org)
